Alex is so fun to photograph. She is the daughter of a friend of mine and she is just getting into modeling. She’s attended a couple acting and modeling seminars in California and is talking to several agency’s looking to sign her. She wanted to get enough images to put together her comp card and build her model portfolio. I needed a model to try out a few ideas I wanted to work through so I called her up and we met at a lodge on Snoqualmie Pass. It was pouring rain that day but we made it work. It was fall so the colors outside were beautiful and we were able to hold a reflector over her head to keep her dry for the first look. I then used the porch and the warm wood color steps for the second look. I also played with my ring light and captured one of my favorite images of Alex. After I got some solid images for Alex to use, it was my turn to play. I wanted to see how my fog machine worked outside and if it could control the fog in an open space. It was pouring rain but I wan’t going to quit! I found a cool old stump just outside the lodge where we could still get power to the fog machine. I used my power pack for the main light and I used a flash head behind Alex to illuminate the fog and also the drops of rain. I’m in love with the results. It looks like she is standing on the moon and the rain looks like stars in the distance! Thank you Alex for freezing your butt off for me! We got some amazing images!
