A couple weeks ago I received a message on facebook from a gal named Jennifer. She wanted me to create images of her daughters, who are both beautiful dancers, that would be unique and different. After a consultation, we decided to do something outside even though the cold weather was heading our way. I drove to Yakima and we met at their favorite park out in the Athanum. Jennifer loves the trees that line the driveway with their vivid red leaves. On that particular day, the weather turned for the worst and it got cold. Let’s just say I was guiltily wearing my winter coat while the girls sported their dance costumes. The girls never complained! They were eager to try whatever I wanted no matter how cold they were. As I worked with the girls, I kept having a vision of an image that captured the essence of their love of dance but was organic feeling yet nurturing. I could see that the girls were very close and Kaitlyn the oldest was amazingly kind and loving with her younger sister. We were running out of time because the sun was starting to drop and the fog and overcast was cutting our day short. I had to find the perfect spot to capture my vision, so we left the park and headed up the road. I finally found what I was looking for… a field of sagebrush! I had the girls change their dance costumes and nestled them amongst the gnarly terrain. I had Kaitlyn sit holding Katia in her lap. Both girls have such poise and femininity reminding me of an old masters painting. I just find this particular image (last image) breathtakingly beautiful ! I’m going to share just a few today but I’ll be posting more images from this shoot in January.
