Our first photonuvo model shoot of 2013 was a big success even though the weather turned bad! We had a great group of students from West Valley, Ellensburg and CleElum and access to photograph at a lodge on Snoqualmie Pass. My stylist and I drove up the night before and created the set, hauling my 1930’s sofa across 30 feet of deep snow. We had to make a frame work of wood underneath the sofa and hide it with snow to keep the sofa from sinking. We completed the set and then covered everything with tarps for the night. The next day we met the models at Gaylyn’s Salon where they were transformed with hair and makeup and then onto Maurice to pull clothes. Everyone looked amazing and we started our drive to the lodge. By the time we reached CleElum it was raining so hard I could barley see to drive. I was not looking good! As we got closer to the lodge the rain became lighter and I was hopeful again we could shoot outside. Since it was freezing cold and wet, we photographed one model at a time having everyone else stay warm in the lodge. The girls all had wonderful attitudes and were so excited to be there, they didn’t care that they were freezing- true models! We had rain, snow, hail and bits of sun shine in the two hours that I photographed. At one point we had to take a short break to wait out the hail. I used a two light set up to create a hair light from behind and my main softbox and power pack to light their face. Overall, I love the images that I got and so did all my models! Thank you to my amazing models, Gaylyn’s Salon for the wonderful hair and makeup, Maurices for the clothes, Old Skool for the coats and Kelly Waddell for her talented set design and great attitude putting up with all my crazy ideas!
